Tettenhall Tigers Volleyball Club was formed in January 1994 when sixteen youngsters aged 9 and 10 came together to learn how to play volleyball. The club, based at the King’s School (formally Regis School), has since grown to over sixty members aged between 8 and 18!

Tettenhall Tigers aims to develop the game of volleyball in the Wolverhampton area, to provide youngsters with an activity that encourages participation for both boys and girls whether training or competing. During the early years the club entered tournaments around the region and even further away at the annual volleyball festival at Pontins in Southport. Since those early days and humble beginnings the club is now known nationally and well respected in the volleyball community. The club continues to develop with the level of ability reaching such a high standard that it has enabled the club to regularly reach the final stages of the National Championships at Under 15,16 and 18 age groups. We have four National titles to our name to date.

Our Tiger Cubs are also encouraged to experience the thrills of competition and get their first taste at the Pontins Festival, this year’s youngest player being just nine years old.

Tettenhall Tigers is affiliated to Volleyball England and in March 2008 achieved the coveted Volley 1 accreditation. In the (2009/10 Season) we intend to enter two teams into the West Midlands Men’s and Women’s League, one in each as well as National age group competitions at Under 14,15,16 and 18.

As well as the successes seen by the club, individual players have been recognised for their abilities and many of them have represented the successful West Midland Squads. A small number have also been selected for the England Junior and Great Britain Catholic Students Squads. We are very proud that several of our players, and former players are in the Great Britain Indoor and Beach Volleyball squads working towards 2012 Olympic qualification!

Not only has the playing side been important to the club but older players are also encouraged to take the Coaching qualifications. Approximately twenty players have already been successful. Older players are also keen to officiate and many have taken charge of local league matches and National Championship matches at Under 15 and Under 16 levels.

Tettenhall Tigers is a Volleyball Club that has plenty to offer youngsters from development through to performance with a track record of training players to a very high standard. If you feel like coming along and giving this fantastic sport a go our training night is on a Monday evening. If you are a beginner aged 8 years and above training is 6-30pm to 7-45pm.
