In places our girls made heavy going of defeating Coseley. Gabi got the team off to an excellent start with a run of 8 points on her serve but then the opposition were allowed to claw their way back into the set as our players seemed to be racked with indecision. A run of unforced errors took us from narrowly taking the first set into a very poor show in the second. Nick had to work hard to get the girls motivated again as many of the players seemed to be lacking in confidence. Strong serving towards the final stages of the fourth set from Gabi helped us take the match with a slightly more comfortable passage of play. |

Losing the first set our young side fought back to take the next two, but the Home side eventually took the victory in this tense match. |

Match Report: |
A lazy start to the match with pretty medicore play from the home team. In the 2nd set we picked up and started to play as a unit and regained our confidence and eventually won the set, although in the 3rd set we started to let it slip yet again and made some terrible mistakes. By the the 4th set we began to pick up the game and the set was in our hands. 24-14 to Tettenhall Tigers. A time out was called and Telford seemed as though they wanted it more than us... Mistakes were made and the pressure increased as Telford clawed back. The end result 24-25. Not our best game by a long shot. |

Match Report: |
This was a big step up and welcome to Division 1 for the girls. Phoenix are a strong team who won the first set comfortably after a battling first half to the set. In the second set our girls showed that the season can promise alot if they manage to achieve this high level of consistency. Solid serves, much better movement, better shape and real commitment to get to the ball pushed Phoenix in a really close set. Set three was a mixture of good volleyball and tiredness as our first match of the season ended 15-25. Nevermind we now have plenty to work on and plenty to be pleased with. Well done girls. |
